LOWELL—Helen M. (Kennedy) Netishen, 86 years old, a member of a well known Lowell family and longtime resident the Belvidere section of Lowell, died early Tuesday morning after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Michael P. Netishen, retired Lowell Firefighter, who died in 1985.
She was born in Lowell, on May 14, 1919, a daughter of the late John E. and Ellen (McAneney) Kennedy, and graduated from Sacred Heart Grammar School and Lowell High School.
Mrs. Netishen was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and previously St. Peter’s Church. She held membership in the Holy Rosary Sodality of the Immaculate Conception Church, Poor Clare Guild, St. Peter’s Parish Blessed Virgin Sodality, and the Friends of St. Peter’s. She was also a Girl Scout Leader and a Boy Scout Mother. She was an active participant at the Ladies Weekly Saturday Night Card Group.
Surviving her are two sons and daughters-in-law: Michael and Janet Netishen, of Rye, NH; and William and Patricia Netishen of Nottingham, NH; a daughter and son-in-law: Arline and Patrick Wood, of Chelmsford; eight grandchildren: Maribeth Netishen; Christine Netishen; Patrick J. Wood; Ellen Netishen; Katy Wood Van Dyne; David Netishen; and Steven Netishen; five great-grandchildren: Maeve Elizabeth Awiszuas; J. Michael A. Awiszus, Liam Corey Awiszus, Maggie Molloy Van Dyne, and Julia Rose Netishen.
She was the grandmother of the late William P. Netishen, II, and sister of the late Mary Beaulieu; Rita Kennedy and Anne Albrecht.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, April 6th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered at 11 AM on Friday, April 7th, at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
