Margaret H. “Peggy” Clancy, 91, of Millis died July 19 in the Oak Knoll Healthcare Center in Framingham following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Richard F. Clancy, Sr. who died in 1992.
Born in Medway on June 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Paul J. Higgins, Sr., and Nellie C. (Henneberry) Higgins. Peggy was raised in Medway, was a 1948 graduate of Medway High School and had resided in Millis since her marriage in 1952.
Peggy was a Girl Scout and Girl Scout Troup Leader, a former member of the Catholic Daughters Court of St. Thomas and had taught CCD at St. Thomas Church in Millis for many years. She enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, visiting with family, traveling, and spending time on the dunes of Cape Cod.
She is survived by her six children, Maureen Demers of Putnam, Connecticut, Richard F. Clancy, Jr. and his wife Paula of Cumberland, Rhode Island, John “Jack” Clancy of St. Mary’s, Georgia, Daniel Clancy and his wife Diane “Dee” of Mapleville, Rhode Island, Dennis Clancy and his wife Mary of Springfield, Vermont and Edward Clancy and his wife Donna of Millis. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, 17 greatgrandchildren and by her brother Robert Higgins and his wife, Eileen of Yarmouthport, Massachusetts. She was the sister of the late Paul J. Higgins, Jr. and his late wife, Theresa of Medway and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice.
