Walter Howard Murray, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, April 3, 2006, at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Steve O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Rebecca. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Murray was born September 3, 1922, in Wilcox County, Georgia to the late Clarence Hobson and Minnie Lou Evans Murray. He had lived in the community since August. Mr. Murray was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired Insurance Salesman with Life of Virginia with 30 years service while living in Raleigh, NC. He was a former resident of Greensboro, NC, Plains, GA and Cordele, GA. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Cordele.
Mr. Murray is survived by his two sons: Walter H. “Butch” Murray, Jr. of Dublin and Frankie Murray of Raleigh, NC; two brothers: Albert Cleo Murray of Lexington, NC and William “Bill” Murray of Fitzgerald; one step-brother: Guy Hogan of Fitzgerald; five sisters: Ola Register and Frances Crozier, both of Fitzgerald, Carolyn Wilson of Lakeland, FL, Minnie Ruth Coker of Dade City, FL, and Barbara Billingsley of Fitzgerald; and one step-sister: Cynthia Carr of Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
