Helen Bridges Cook Jackson, 89, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Monday, July 19, 2021, at West Side Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Dr. Brent Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Ms. Jackson was born June 19, 1932, in Pineview, Georgia, to the late Cliff Bridges, Sr. & Jewell Crozier Bridges. She moved to Fitzgerald, Georgia in 1941 and graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1949. Ms. Jackson was one of the honor graduates and also one of the cheerleaders for the 1948 State Champs. She later graduated from Middle Georgia College in Cochran. She taught school at Ashton for a short time and later retired from General Telephone Company in 1987. Ms. Jackson was a member of West Side Baptist Church and a former member of the Golden Harvesters.
She is survived by her children: John Levi Cook, Jr. of Lawrenceville, Michael V. Jackson of Leesburg and Doctor Debra H. Jackson of Atlanta; grandchildren: John Levi Cook, III, of Lawrenceville, Jessica Cook of Cornelia, Joshua Rogers of Fitzgerald; several great-grandchildren and a brother, Allen Bridges of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Levi Cook, Sr.; brothers: Bobby Bridges, James Bridges and Cliff Bridges, Jr.; a sister, Inez Bridges Woods and a grandson, Justin Rogers.
