SPRINGFIELD – It is with deep sadness and enduring love and admiration that the family of Mary T. (Begley) Crowley, 88, of Springfield, announces that she died peacefully on Monday, July 12, 2021 at home. She was born in Springfield on August 14, 1932, a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Anna (Sullivan) Begley. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Sacred Heart High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. She furthered her education and received her nursing certificate from the Mercy Hospital School for Nursing. Mary was a Registered Nurse for many years and was last employed at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and retired in 1995. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, James F. Crowley. They were married on September 8, 1956 at the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, James M. Crowley; and her brother, Reverend Thomas B. Begley. She leaves her children, Kathleen P. Crowley of Pembroke, Thomas D. Crowley of Springfield, Joanne M. Fennessy and her husband, Michael, of Braintree and Maureen E. Puzon and her husband, Adam, of Longmeadow; her daughter in law, Maria Crowley of Sturbridge; her grandchildren, Brendan J. Crowley, David M. Crowley and his fiancée, Michelle Masson, Patrick J. Crowley and Elizabeth M. Fennessy; her sister, Patricia Masi and her husband, James, of Portland, ME; and her extended family. Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her committal service will follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
