Edith passed away peacefully on Monday, July 12, 2021 at the Westerly Hospital at age 95. She was born on May 2, 1926 in Westerly, RI to Fred and Mary Bowen. She had three brothers, Frederick, David, and Kenneth and one sister, Marilyn Jane Nelson, who all predecease her.
She graduated from Stonington High School in 1944 where she was a member of the “S” Club, War Council, Yearbook Staff, and Cheer Leaders.
On February 22, 1946 she married John Taylor Morey. They raised four children, David, Michael, Bonnie and Karen.
She was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church in Westerly and a longtime member of the Altar Guild.
She leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Those who knew Edith would say her strength and kindness are how she will be remembered. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who passed her confidence on to her children and showed the meaning of unconditional love. She will be remembered for her good heart and beautiful smile.
There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
