Jesuino "JC" Carlos Flores, 80, of Lowell, passed away after a brief illness at home with his loving family by his side on Sunday, July 11, 2021. He was the husband of Grimaneza Rosa De Palma (Bettencourt) Flores, with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this past April.
A son of the late Abilio C. and the late Maria D. (Gomes) Flores, he was born on April 6, 1941, in Angra do Heroismo, Terceira, Azores, Portugal, and was educated in that area. He came to the United States as a young man, settling in Lowell.
Mr. Flores made his longtime home on Branch Street. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church as well as a member of the Portuguese American Center, The Holy Ghost Society and Curso de Cristandade. He worked for the United States Air Force as an accountant technician in the Azores and later became affiliated with Joan Fabrics as a department manager, retiring after twenty nine years. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was also an avid sports fan and loved spending time at the Portuguese feasts.
In addition to his wife, Grimaneza, he is survived by a daughter, Isabel C. F. Purpura and her husband, John of Lowell; a son, David C. Flores and his wife, Julie A. (Thibault) Flores of Dracut; four grandchildren, Nathan C. Purpura of Malden, Daniel J. Purpura of Lowell, Rachael C. Flores of Everett, and Brian D. Flores of Dracut, his sister, Maria Helena Fitzwater of Sacramento, CA; his brother, Orlando R. Flores and his wife, Fatima (Resendes) of Terceira, Azores, his godson, Paul Jorge Bettencourt and his wife, Aimee of Dracut; and many nieces and nephews all over the world including here in America, the Azores, Lisbon and Brazil.
He was also the father of the late Suzanne Flores who passed away in 1974, brother of the late Paulo A. Flores, brother in law of the late Norbert Fitzwater and the late Niveria E. DaSilva, the late Joao M. DaSilva and the late Carlos A. Bettencourt. He was also the son in law of the late Carlos B. DaSilva and his wife, the late Helena D. DaSilva.
On Friday, July 16, 2021 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 4-8 p.m. at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, 978-458-6816.
His funeral will begin on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell, and burial at St. Patrick Cemetery.
