Mary Ann (Donovan) Kane, 86 of Tewksbury, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 10, 2021, surrounded by her loving daughters. She was the widow of the late John C. Kane who passed away on October 16, 2003 after 48 years of marriage.
She was born on November 14, 1934 in Somerville, MA and was a daughter of the late John J. Donovan and the late Caroline F. (Schwehr) Donovan. She was raised in Somerville where she attended Little Flower Grammar School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School.
Mary worked as the Executive Secretary for the Tewksbury DPW for 8 years and then for the Tewksbury Fire Department for an additional 21 years. After her retirement, she continued working part time at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lowell as their Accountant for another 20 years.
Mary was a communicant of St. Williams Church in Tewksbury. She participated in many church organizations within the parish. She was a devout Catholic, had wonderful faith and was proud of being an Oblate Associate.
She enjoyed spending time with her loving husband John and their family. Her 3 daughters were figure skaters when they were younger. Mary would drive them to the rink and watch them ice skate. She made sure she attended all of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She enjoyed spending time at family reunions over the years. Mary looked forward to weekends with her family at Lake Winnipesaukee and York Beach.
Mary is survived by her three devoted daughters, Kathleen Sullivan, and her husband, Barry of Tewksbury, Karen Morrill and her husband, Shaun of York, ME, and Margaret Morrill and her husband, Tim of Atkinson, NH; her 10 grandchildren, Christine DiBenendetto and her husband, Casey of Tewksbury, Meghan LeCornec and her husband, David of Pepperell, Robert Sullivan of Tewksbury, John Sullivan of Rollingsford, NH and his fiancé, Ashley St. Laurent, Timothy Morrill of Quincy, Kara Hartigan and her husband, Tom of Atkinson, NH, Shannon Rivera and her husband, Gabriel of Tewksbury, Colleen O'Donnell and her husband, Trevor of Somerville, and James Morrill and his wife, Ellen, of Atkinson, NH.
She also leaves behind 6 great grandchildren, Penelope, Maggie, Scarlett, AJ, Evie and Henry; her sister in law, Mary E. Kane of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, John, Mary was also pre-deceased by her siblings, Grace, Franny, Kathleen and Barbara and her youngest granddaughter Mary Kate Morrill.
On Thursday, July 15, 2021, all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 4-8 p.m. at Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, 978-851-2061.
Her funeral will begin on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main Street, Tewksbury, followed by burial at Tewksbury Cemetery.
