Phyllis L. Jenness, 89, of Anderson, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Community Northview Health and Living following an extended illness.
She was born on June 3, 1932 in Wabash, the daughter of James W. and Ruth (Heck) Cain.
Phyllis was employed locally in secretarial administration with Wells Finance Company, Ward Stilton Company, Anderson Community Schools for G.E. Ebbert, Anderson University and Anderson Banking Company. She was involved in ministry projects all her life, beginning at age 17 playing piano for a traveling quartet. She founded the Anderson High School Bible Club, worked with Youth for Christ for many years and founded a chapter of Overcomers Outreach. She enjoyed music, traveling and playing piano for the Singing Jenness Family for 13 years. Mostly she enjoyed being with her family, preparing special meals and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Jenness; two sons; Jim Jenness of Anderson, and Jeff (Debbie) Jenness of Noblesville; four grandchildren; Clarice (Drew) Runion, Austin (Jenny) Jenness, Jared Jenness, and Kenzie (Dave) Atwell; eight great grandchildren; brother, Raymond (Agnes) Cain of Anderson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service.
Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral on Thursday.
