Ralph D. Zumpfe

Of Malden, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. He was able to stay in his home and be cared for by his wife, daughters and Hospice for over a year. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth Zumpfe for 65 years. He was the adoring father to 6 daughters, Cheryl and her husband Anthony Gerniglia of Saugus, father to the recently deceased daughter Karen Zumpfe of Malden, Susan and her husband Ken Boomhower of Melrose, Robin & her husband John Morey of Saugus, Kimberly and her husband Marco Cerbone of Andover and Mary Judge and her fiance Robert Murphy of Medford.Ralph is also survived by his 13 beautiful grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Tonianne, Deanna, Krystal, Katrina, Kendra, Olivia, John, Brett, Rachel, Marco and Anthony. He is also survived by his 7 adoring great-grandchildren, Justin, Kayla, Mykey, Jordan, Kameren, Logan and Ariana. He is also survived by his brother Franklin Zumpfe and wife Sharon of Rochester, NH and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Ralph was a graduate of Medford Vocational High School. He became a proud veteran as he went on to serve in the United States Navy on the USS Wasp AirCraft Carrier. He was always proud and honored when people acknowledged that he served in the United States Navy. He was employed by Hoods Milk in the Filling Room in Charlestown for 38 years. Through the early years, he worked at the Malden Cooperative Bank in the evening as a second job and was also a painter in his spare time to support his growing family. Ralph was a die-hard Red Sox Fan that never missed watching a game and you could always find him in his Red Sox attire. On occasion, he enjoyed going on road trips for the day to Foxwoods, traveling to Cape Cod to their timeshare and enjoyed traveling to Bermuda on Cruise ships with his wife. He fully enjoyed spending most of his time at home with his wife Betty, his daughters and grandchildren. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday July 15th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday July 14th from 4-7 PM.
