CHARLTON-Marilyn R. (Johnson) Tonelli, 67, of Charlton, passed from this life Monday, April 3rd, in UMass-Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, after an illness. Her husband of 32 years, Charles “Chick” Tonelli, died in 2002. She leaves two sisters, Nila M. Allen of Auburn and Kathleen M. Wilk of Worcester; a brother, Harold R. Johnson of Worcester; five step-children, Richard and Paul Tonelli, Mary Lou Tarallo, Margaret Antonielli, and Joy Small; nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Edward Johnson and William O’Connor and one sister, Shirley Johnson.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Harold and Catherine (O’Connor) Johnson and moved to Charlton many years ago. She graduated from South High School. Mrs. Tonelli was an office manager at Clark Oil Company in Worcester for many years, before retiring. She loved to travel and spent many happy days in Maine and Hawaii as well as globe trotting to various other countries. Marilyn loved concerts and the theater. Always the adventurer, she had plans pending to fly high in a hot air balloon. Anyone who knew Marilyn was taken by her loving and caring way and her great sense of humor. She had a way of putting one at ease immediately. She leaves a place that can never be filled but with the knowledge that she has gone to another happier place to be with “Chick.” She will forever be in our hearts.
The funeral is Wednesday, April 5th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 12:30 PM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Visitation is from 5:30 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, in the funeral home.
