Eunice Mildred Allman (AKA Eunie), daughter of Jane and Arnold Gorman and mother of David and Ken Allman, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Eunie is loved and mourned by many people. She will always be fondly remembered by her twin sister Miriam Weiss, her sister Joycie Lee Smith, and her brother Daniel Gorman, who are also twins. Her two sons, Ken and his wife Dacia, and David will also warmly remember the comfort and love their mother unconditionally brought to their lives. She will live forever in the memories of her grandchildren; Nicole, and her husband Brett, Trista, Desiree, Zach and great grandson Lucas, and her nephews and nieces; David, Michael, Richard, Jason and Hillary.
Eunie grew up in Brookline, MA. and graduated from Brookline High School. She went on to earn a Bachelor and Master’s degree in English as a Second Language (ESL) from UMass Boston. She taught ESL at Suffolk University, Massasoit College, Miami Dade High School and substituted in the Quincy Public School system. Though Eunie faced many challenges, she set personal goals, worked very hard in her spare time, and successfully obtained her Real Estate Brokers license. She raised her family in Quincy, MA., where she enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, walking along Quincy Shore Drive and meeting friends at Marina Bay. She later retired to Delray Beach, FL.
In addition to her academic and professional career, she was also an accomplished pianist. When her granddaughter was diagnosed with leukemia, she was inspired to compose a song named “Healing Hands." On a family cruise to Bermuda, she surprised everyone when she entered a talent show and played “Healing Hands" and received a standing ovation!
When she retired to Florida, she became a long-time member of the Broward County Mummers String Band. In the band, she learned to play the Glockenspiel - a new instrument entirely foreign from her experience. She loved rehearsing and performing at nursing homes around Florida.
Family and Music were the loves of her life!
