WEBSTER – Janet C. Simonds, 98, died peacefully Friday, July 9, 2021 in Notre Dame Healthcare, Worcester.
She leaves 3 nieces, Jane Barry Flynn, Virginia Barry McCrae and her husband Douglas, and Martha Barry Caron and her husband Mark, and a nephew, John F. X. “Jack” Barry and his wife Corinne Racicot. She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert L. Simonds, by a sister, Virginia G. Barry and by a nephew, Lt. Colonel Richard J. Flynn, US Navy Ret.
She was born on November 12, 1922 in Webster, a daughter of Albert and Catherine R. (Galvin) Simonds and lived here most of her life. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1940 and then earned an Associate Degree in Business from Becker Junior College.
As a certified public accountant, she worked at Deloite & Touche in Worcester for 43 years before retiring in 1997.
She was a member of Saint Louis Church and the Saint Louis League of Catholic Women. She served as the president of Soroptimist International of North America and was a member of Estate Planning in Worcester. She served on the financial boards of the Worcester Diocese, Anna Maria College and the YMCA.
Her funeral will be held Monday, July 19 from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street with a Mass at 11:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Monday, July 19, in the funeral home prior to the Mass.
