Patricia “Pat” Martin passed away quietly Saturday, April 1st, in her home on Groton Long Point, with family at her side.
Patricia Davis was born in Glendale, Calif., the daughter of Orville and Ethel Davis. She graduated from Southern Cal, studying music and piano and became an accomplished pianist. Afterwards, she went on to receive her graduate degree in music education from Occidental College.
After moving East, she became a music teacher in Laconia, N.H., and later in the Groton school system.
She was an avid skier, biker, and tennis player. Whether she was driving through town in her convertible with Jazz tunes blaring, or riding her bike dressed in hot pink and orange with one of her many straw hats, there was no more vivacious, colorful character in town than Pat Martin.
She leaves behind her husband, Stearns Martin; daughter, Kristi Martin, of Lincoln, Mass.; and son, Eric Martin, wife Katie, and three grandchildren, Cody, Gabriela, and Hannah, all of Newburyport, Mass. Her daughter, Alison Trumbull, predeceased her.
A private family service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Noank School Music Department, 42 Smith Lane, Noank, CT 06340. Attn: Peter Bass.
