Obituary

Laurence Lloyd Liverpool was born in Don Miguel Road, San Juan, Trinidad, on November 20, 1943, to Baby Woods-Felix and Herbert Liverpool (both deceased). He was one of three siblings of which his older brother Quintin predeceased him, and according to his mother, the third son she never had was (Your's Truly, Edmund Johnson – SMILE!).

He attended The Fyzabad Presbyterian School, and after obtaining the school leaving certificate, he joined Apex Trinidad Oilfields Limited as an office boy in the production department. His attitude towards learning continued, and upon his eagerness to go forward, He was promoted to a full-time clerk. His skills were not limited only to the office sector, but he showed his athleticism in Soccer, Cricket, Basketball, Billiards, and Table Tennis. His passion for moving forward bit him, and in 1968, He left the shores of his beloved Trinidad and Tobago and moved to the United States, where he settled in Boston, MA.

After surveying the area and setting his sights on moving on, he joined the United States Army, where his stay was short. After being discharged, he sought employment with Boston University Hospital, where he worked continuously for thirty (35) five years in their maintenance department as a mechanical engineer from July 27, 1969, until retirement on October 29, 2004. He then chose the quiet way of life, Trinidad Style (Liming; Card Playing and recreational and social activities). His fondness for friends was his hallmark of the person he grew to be. Laurence was a person who never accepted no for an answer and always told everyone to check me back later or tomorrow. He was a magnificent work of art, very hard to duplicate and even harder to emulate in some areas. He had a remarkable sense of humor, from which he was able to command his audience with a touch of his knowledge and street sense which he used to his advantage.

Laurence was heavily involved in several Organizations in Boston. He was one of the founding members of Unity Sports and Cultural Club, T&T Social Club, and Branches Steel Orchestra, formerly known as Roots Steel Orchestra.
