Obituary

WORCESTER___Chester “Ceslovas” Savickas, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021.

Chester is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene (Pumeris) Savickas; his children, Tomas Savickas, Lucia Savickas and John Savickas, all of Worcester; his sister, Sister M. Paule, M.V.S. of Putnam, CT; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Anna Vaitkus, Liucija Babickas, Isabelle Zmuidzinas and Kostas Savickas.

He was born in Lithuania, son of the late Kostas and Anna (Kurliandskas) Savickas. He worked for 38 years as a machinist for Morgan Construction Co. before retiring. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Vilna Church and St. Casimir’s Church. He was a lector and a member of the Men’s Club at Our Lady of Vilna Church. He was active with the Lithuanian Charitable Society (Maironis Park) and the Lithuanian Art Lovers’ Circle (LMM Ratelis). He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Beacon Hospice and St. Vincent Hospital for their care and support.

The Funeral will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., Worcester with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Vilna Church, 153 Sterling St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Putnam, CT. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home Thursday morning from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, 600 Liberty Hwy, Putnam, CT 06260 or to Camp Neringa, 147 Neringa Rd., Brattleboro, VT 05301.
