Florence Mattia (Cascio) Mucci, 87, of Medway died July 1 peacefully at the Serenity Hill Nursing Home in Wrentham. She was the wife of Angelo Mucci for the past 67 years.
Born in Roxbury, August 25, 1933, the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Maggio) Cascio, Mrs. Mucci was raised in Boston, living from the age of 4 until 13 at the Italian Home for Children in Jamaica Plain.
She had lived in Medway since 1965.
Florence had been a claims adjustor for Liberty Mutual Insurance company until her retirement. She had previously worked at Rossetti’s restaurant in Medway and in the cafeteria at the North School in Medway.
Florence had been an active member of the Catholic Daughters, Court of St. Joseph for many years. She had also volunteered as a poll taker for the Town of Medway. She had been a member of the Medway Democratic Town Committee and was an avid follower of politics and kept up with local and national issues.
Florence had been a lector at St. Joseph’s Church and been a longtime member of the bowling league in Medway and an active member of the Medway Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, gardening, line dancing, Tai Chi, which she did for over twenty years, but above all spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Carol Ann Mucci and her husband Clifton Masdea of West Roxbury and Joseph Mucci and his wife Sue of Medway.
She was the sister of the late Nunzio Cascio and Arthur “Butch” Cascio.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gino Vega-Mucci and Danilo Vega- Mucci.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 8 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at Noon. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.
