Donald “Jake” Jacobson, age 81, a lifelong Weymouth resident, passed away June 29, 2021. Jake graduated Weymouth H.S. class of 1957 then proudly served his country in the Navy. After his service he married his beloved wife of 60 years, Sue, and they settled in Weymouth to start a family.
Jake started his career with Mass Electric while working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern. He then worked as an Engineer for Braintree Electric Light Dept. for many years before eventually retiring in 1995 from Hingham Municipal Light Dept.
In retirement, Jake enjoyed many golf trips with his friends from Halifax Country Club and Las Vegas with his wife along with venturing cross-country twice with her. Later on, Jake enjoyed living and being a member at Weathervane Golf Club in Weymouth He also loved the friends he made in his various golf leagues. Donald will be remembered for his hard work ethic, immense talent, and love he had for his family especially his grandchildren.
Jake is survived by his beloved wife Sue Jacobson (Remondini) of S. Weymouth, his loving children Michael Jacobson and his wife Dayna of Weymouth and Paul Jacobson and his wife Lisa of Hingham, his grandchildren Kristina, Katie, Elizabeth, Maria, and Daniel, and his great-grandchildren Blake and Cole.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Jake on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 4-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home Friday morning at 9am for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass which will begin at 10am in the St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. Donations may be made in memory of Jake to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.StJude.org.
