Obituary

John J. Monroe, 71, of Worcester, died, June 28th in Day Kimball Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda C. (Hassett) Monroe, his daughter, Tammy L. Monroe and Orlei A. Fabricio, whom John considered a son, both of Worcester; two sisters, Charlotte Halley and her husband, Kenneth of Dudley, and Deborah Mirick and her husband, James of South Carolina; and his three godchildren, Holly, Tyler and Paige and several nephews and nieces.

He was born in Worcester the son of John E. and Doris E. (LeBlanc) Monroe and had been employed for 26 years by the City of Worcester, Department of Public Works retiring in 2013. John was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish, loved fishing with his best friend Bill, dining out, playing cards and spending time with friends and especially his family.

His calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 8th from 5:00 until 6:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue at 6:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, The Boys and Girls Club, Boxing and Fitness Program, 65 Tainter Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
