Daniel “Danny” S. Murphy, Jr. 88 of Derry, NH passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Derry Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Danny was born September 7,1932 in Boston, MA and was a son of the late Daniel, Sr. and Florence (Lannagan) Murphy. He was raised and educated in Brighton, MA and lived much of his life in E. Boston, prior to moving to Derry in 2002.
Danny served in the US Navy during the Korean War, after which he returned to the Boston area. Danny was employed with the Stop and Shop Grocery Co. for 36 years, retiring as a produce manager. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping with his family and being in nature.
Members of the family include his wife of nearly 70 years, Lorraine (Amoroso) Murphy; his daughter, Kathy Murphy LaBonte; four sons, Kevin Murphy, Brian Murphy, Sean Murphy and Dennis Murphy; three grandchildren, Christine, Kayla and Kevin; his brother, John Murphy; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Helen Driscoll.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday July 6, 2021 from 8:30 to 10:30am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A graveside committal will follow at 12:00pm at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
