Meredith (Winsor) Swanson, widow of Kenneth J. Swanson, died June 17 at home with her son and daughter at her side. She was the daughter of the late Murle R. and Amy K. Winsor.
Meredith was a lifelong resident of East Bridgewater, graduating in 1946 from East Bridgewater High School and from the Brigham Hospital Nursing program.
She had been employed at Goddard Hospital, Braemore Nursing Home and later at the Plymouth County Hospital before retiring in 1992.
She was a lifelong member of the Elmwood Church where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees and fund-raising events for the church. For many years she was a member of the East Bridgewater Conservation Commission, serving as treasurer and news correspondent.
She was known for her delightful flower and vegetable gardens and she along with her husband Ken donated a substantial amount of land adjoining their homestead to make the “Winsor Trail” along the Satucket River.
She is survived by her daughter Carol Murray of East Bridgewater, her son Keith Swanson and his wife Donna of Halifax and her sister Miona (Winsor) West as well as 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Dean and Jack Swanson and sister of the late Pete Winsor, Marjorie (Winsor) Hurd and Muriel (Winsor) Douglas.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
