Kevin M. Sullivan, 78

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Kevin M. Sullivan, age 78, of Mansfield, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Suzette M. (Desrosiers) Sullivan, to whom he was wed on November 6, 1971.

Born in Boston, MA on August 9, 1942, he was a loving son of the late Michael and Helen M. (Flynn) Sullivan.

Kevin grew up in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston. His family belonged to the Holy Name Parish, where he played the Double Bell Euphonium in the Holy Name Band. He was a 1960 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Brookline and furthered his education, receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Stonehill College in 1965. Kevin proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, in the Vietnam War.

A resident of Mansfield since 1972, Mr. Sullivan was a retired Registrar and Director of Financial Aid at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston.


Kevin was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and a former member of the George C. Shields Council 420 Knights of Columbus in Mansfield. He was ever-so-proud of his Irish Heritage and was a member of the Irish Ceilidhe Club of Rhode Island. Kevin was also a former member of the Mansfield Finance Committee, the Mansfield Fish and Game Club and past president of the Franklin Rod and Gun Club.

Mr. Sullivan’s family was truly the essence of his life and he especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. His favorite pastimes were meticulously maintaining his beautiful yard on Fulton Pond, the walls he built which will forever adorn his home and staying up on the history of the Town of Mansfield.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Neal E. Sullivan and his wife Aileen of Long Island, New York, Nicole C. Stuart and her husband Timothy of Australia and Cara A. Burdette and her husband Eric of North Attleboro. He was the cherished grandfather of Declan and Eamon Sullivan, Mason and Stirling Stuart and Addison and Ryan Burdette. He was the dear brother of his twin sister Kathleen Leader and her late husband William of Medfield and the late Anne Croke and her late husband John, the late Edward Sullivan, who is survived by his wife Toni of Florida and the late Helen Sullivan. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, July 2nd from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.

His funeral will begin on Saturday, July 3rd at 10:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
