Thomas L. “Tom” DeFilippo, age 67, of Somerville passed away on Thursday, June 24. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Sebastiano and Mary (Chambers-Igo) DeFilippo. Tom was the owner of T.A. DeFilippo & Sons General Contractors. He was a family man and loved to cook. Tom enjoyed watching sports and was a lifelong Yankees fan in a family of Red Sox fans.
Tom was the devoted father of Tommy S. DeFilippo and his wife Karin of Holbrook, Christopher J. DeFilippo of Braintree, and their late mother Vernelle (Reilly) DeFilippo, and Nicholas S. DeFilippo of Medford, Joseph P. DeFilippo of Boston, and their mother Anna (Baldassarre) DeFilippo. He was the loving grandfather of Angelina P. and Alexander John DeFilippo, and the dear brother of Barbara Connelly of Long Island, NY, and her late husband James, Elisa Doucette and her husband Joseph of Peabody, Jackie Veri and her husband Pio of Wilmington, Christina DeFilippo and her husband Kevin Merrill of Somerville, and the late Francesco DeFilippo, Linda Rose Policastro, and John DeFilippo. Tom was the beloved uncle of 14 nieces and nephews, 28 great nieces and nephews, and 4 great great nieces and nephews.
Tom’s funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Friday, July 2nd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, July 1st from 3 through 7 PM. Interment will be private.
