Orson W. “Skip” Hodge, of Dorchester, formerly of Medford died Monday in the Massachusetts General Hospital Boston. He was 70.
Born in Stoneham, he was the son of the late Willis Asa and the late Victoria Mary (Preziuso) Hodge.
Skip had a long career with the Army National Guard and retired in 2005 as the Senior Medical Advisor. After retiring Skip became a bartender at the local VFW. He enjoyed this job a lot because anyone who knew him knew he loved to socialize. He was an easy man to talk to and once you struck up a conversation with him, it felt as if you knew him for years. In his spare time he enjoyed boating out of the Quincy harbor, singing karaoke, cooking and listening to oldies music. The one thing Skip was most proud of was his family. He was devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Skip was the beloved husband of the late Lillian (Milling) Hodge who passed away in 2017. He was the devoted father of Ann Maynard of Medford, Tricia Maynard of Raymond, NH, Katherine Zolubos and her husband John of Woburn, Debra Maynard of Everett, and Victoria Hodge of Medford and Christina Hodge. He was the loving grandfather of Joseph and Christopher Maynard; Anthony Bossi; Craig and Nicholas Maynard; Jared, Dylan, Hailey Zolubos; Aidan Casey; Logan, Julianna Rivera; and Kazimiera Hodge. He was the great-grandfather of Zachary Maynard, Anthony Jr. and Amelia Bossi. Skip was the devoted brother of Marie Hodge Scali of NH.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service on Wednesday June 30th at 10:30 AM at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne and may visit with the family Tuesday June 29th from 3:30-7:30 PM at Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
