Annabelle “Ann” C. (Clem) Hoyle, 87, formerly of Wrentham died June 20 in the Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester. She was the wife of the late David L. Hoyle.
Born in Worcester, January 3, 1934, the daughter of the late George E. and Irene M. (Johnson) Clem, she was raised in Auburn, MA, where she met her husband, David. They settled in Wrentham, MA to raise their family, and lived in the same house for more than 50 years. After many years as a homemaker with five children, she went to Bridgewater State College and earned a degree in education, with honors. Her passion was Gifted & Talented Education, and she was a tireless advocate for G&T programming throughout her life. She ran the High Ability Learner program at the Easton Public School, worked briefly in the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts, and spent more than ten years as Gifted and Talented Coordinator for the Edgartown School System on Martha’s Vineyard. During those years, she moved to Martha’s Vineyard for the school year, and hosted many holidays and vacations for her family. In addition to her other jobs, she served as Massachusetts’ Affiliate Director of the Future Problem Solving Program for more than 30 years. She was a compassionate caregiver for her mother in law, mother, and brother as they approached the end of their lives. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren – and she had a flair for coming up with unique entertainment ideas, such as bobbing for marshmallow Easter Bunnies one very rainy holiday. She loved to shop – especially for bargains – and was a longtime fan of the New England Patriots. She also enjoyed travelling and spending time near the ocean. Much of her time was devoted to making sure the people around her had a good time. In her later days, as a resident at the Community at Pond Meadow, she planned activities for the community & served on the resident advisory board.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Renda of Groton, Sally Ziemak of Solon, Ohio, Lawrence Hoyle of Waltham, David Hoyle of Rowley and Christine Montville of Smithfield, Rhode Island.
