She was born in Munich Germany during WWII. In 1954, young Sonja left war ravaged Germany with her mother Marianne and Marianne’s husband Sergeant James Young. In her new country, she started her American education at the Immaculate Conception Elementary School. From there she graduated from Lowell High School and then went on to earn an Associate’s degree at Lowell Commercial College. Sonja’s career involved numerous Executive Administrative positions culminating in her position as a Bi-Lingual Executive Assistant to the US President of a German company.
Sonja loved wildlife, particularly horses. She owned horses since she was teenager and was particularly fond of rescuing wild Mustangs from the Western US. She was heavily involved in the Granite State Carriage Association where she served as President for a number of years. In addition to her lifelong affection for horses, in her early years, Sonja raised Collies and throughout her life, she always seemed to always have a cat around. Her latest hobby was tracking her European roots.
