CHICOPEE – Donalda V. (Ringuette) Collins, 94, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center West in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Chicopee on November 12, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Olivier and Donalda (Delude) Ringuette. She was raised and educated in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed as a Machine Operator for 20 years at Moore Drop Forge in Springfield and retired in 1978. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and a member of the Chicopee Senior Center, the Uniroyal Retirees Club and the Line Dancers of Chicopee. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Herbert J. Collins who was Called Home on November 20, 2000. She leaves her loving daughter, Sharon M. Collins of Medford; her loving daughter-in-law, Gail Collins of Belchertown; her loving former son-in-law, Gary Schuerfeld of Virginia; her five cherished grandchildren, Shelly Schuerfeld and her partner, Stephen Luszcz, Tobie Schuerfeld, Alina Franklin and her husband, Josh, Lauren Desmond and her husband, Luke, and Andrew Collins; her five cherished great-grandchildren, Alya Schuerfeld and Amelia, Kendall, Morgan Franklin and Evelyn Desmond; her dear sister, Olivette Beaudoin of Chicopee; her two dear sisters-in-law, Claire Ringuette and Phyllis Gomes, both of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving son, Bruce J. Collins who was Called Home on March 23, 2002; her three dear brothers, Olivier Jr., Domer and Donald Ringuette; and her two dear sisters, Olive Malo and Dorella Cote. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Prayer Service on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
