Patricia Pauline (Shahtay) Stearns, 92, formerly of Bellingham, died June 20 in the Medway Country Manor following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Walter Stearns who died in 1996.
Born in her parents’ home in Bellingham June 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Michael and Pauline Shahtay, Patricia had lived in Bellingham for most of her life.
She graduated from Bellingham High School and was very proud to have been class salutalorian. She was a bookkeeper with the Milford Shoe Company where she loved working in a professional office environment.
Patricia was a longtime resident of the Medway Country Manor. Even with her fight with MS, she remained the most positive, lovely person. She never complained and very much enjoyed having visitors, food, and flowers. She missed her husband Walter and always spoke of how they enjoyed ballroom dancing and their trip to New York city.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Stearns of Falmouth, Michael Stearns of Bellingham, and Timothy Stearns of Bellingham. She was the mother of the late Alan Stearns.
She is also survived by her twin sister Sophie Shahtay of Bellingham and was the sister of the late Dorothy Lewinsky.
Patricia also is survived by her grandchildren, Jesse Stearns, Amanda Stearns, Jennifer Stearns, Brian Stearns, and Corey Stearns Bourbonais and her great-grandchildren, Jacob Stearns, Jayden Stearns, and Hunter Dauley.
Her funeral services will be private.
