Tommy Lamar Gay, 43, of Atlanta, formerly of Tifton, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021, at Tranquility Hospice House of Kennesaw in Marietta. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Cadwell officiating. Mr. Gay will be laid to rest at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Liberty Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Stephen Clements, Jamie Gay, Donnie Gay, Mickey Williams, Matt Chambless, Chess Chambless, Roy Farrell, Cruz Chambless, Vince Tapp and Joey Handley will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Gay’s cousins.
Born April 28, 1978, in Tifton, Mr. Gay was the son of Jerry L. Gay and Linda Handley Gay of Tifton. He was self-employed and was studying to be a real estate agent. He loved animals and to know him was to love him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gay was survived by one brother, Christopher Gay of Tifton; a special friend, Bryant Taylor of Atlanta; two uncles, Larry Gay and his wife, Ruby Nell, and James Handley, Sr., all of Tifton; four aunts, Barbara Clements of Tifton, Patsy Williams and her husband, Mike and Dianne Driver, all of Sycamore and Alma Wetherington of Tifton; his nephews, Tyler Gay and his wife Crissy and Jaden Gay, all of Tifton and Kayde Gay of Fitzgerald; and a great-niece, Millie.
