Paul T. Kavanaugh, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was 69. Born and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Paul T. and Grace (Ryan) Kavanaugh. A Medford resident for over 50 years, Paul was a respected service director in the automotive industry. Active in his community, Paul was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge. He served as Exalted Ruler and was voted as Man of the Year by his lodge. A devoted fan of the Patriots and Celtics, Paul loved music and played the electric guitar. He had a life-long love for cars and never missed an opportunity to attend a car show and even built a Model T. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who always looked forward to time with his family and friends.
The beloved husband of Diane (DiTucci) Kavanaugh, Paul was a devoted father to Kerry Kavanaugh and her husband Jason Solowski of Medford, Lori Rosen and her husband Scott of Revere, and Paul T. Kavanaugh III and his wife Kristen of Brooklyn, NY. He was a loving grandfather to Khloe' Rose, Piper Gloria, Thomas Eddie, Paul Thomas IV, and John Francis. The dear brother of Stephen Kavanaugh and his wife Debra of Wilmington, he was the uncle of Michael Kavanaugh and his wife Lindsay and Christopher Kavanaugh.
Paul’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday June 24th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM . Services will conclude with burial at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday, 4- 8 pm.
