OAKHAM - Scott Andrew Ames was born on December 26, 1958 and departed from this life on January 3, 2021 from pneumonia and COVID related complications at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Scott grew up in Wayland. He was the son and sixth child of Harvey and Dorothy (Clark) Ames of Pequot Road. He was a cancer survivor (losing one kidney and lung damage) at a young age having spent much time at the Children's Hospital in Boston. Recovering from cancer, he lived a full and hard working life as a contractor.
He is preceded in death most recently by his oldest brother, William Ames of Pueblo, Colorado. He is survived by three sisters; Wendy Bedrosian, Deborah Rigg, Marianne Ames and one brother, John; and a son Benjamin. He was also the favorite uncle to the many nieces and nephews.
Scott graduated from Wayland High School – class of 1977. After high school, he attended Framingham State College. He eventually settled in Oakham, Massachusetts. Scott enjoyed woodworking and eventually developed his own contracting business known as Ames Spaces. He worked as a builder and remodeler of homes in the greater Boston area. His clients always spoke well of him and appreciated his work. One of his major projects was remodeling the Ames family home by extending the kitchen into the backyard with a beautiful picture window. This provided for many wonderful hours for his aging parents as well as the location for many family gatherings. His recent project was helping niece, Krissy and her family remodel their home in Maine.
Scott could always be found with friends (who many knew as "Mug"), family or dog ("Diesel"), enjoying the outdoors, fishing, skiing, motorcycling, or riding the ocean waves. He is remembered by extended family members as a fun-loving brother and uncle who had a genuine faith in God and his Savior.
Memorial Visitations for Scott and William will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rt. 30), Wayland.
Private graveside services for his family will be held at the Ames family lot in North Cemetery.
