Henry was born in Stutsman County, ND to German-Russian immigrant parents on June 25, 1931. He peacefully passed away on June 10, 2021, in North St. Paul two weeks before his 90th birthday. He grew up in Jamestown, ND and graduated from Jamestown Highschool. Deciding on the ministry as a vocation, he graduated from Wartburg College in 1953, attending Wartburg Seminary until 1956 and completed his seminary education in 1957 at Luther Seminary. In 1957 he married his wife of 64 years, Karin Nelson in St. Paul and was ordained into the ministry in Jamestown, ND and received his first call to a 3-point parish in Almena, WI. In 1960 he was called to a merging congregation in Decoria Twp., MN. His final call in the ministry was in 1965 to a 3-point parish in Genoa, Colorado. During 1970-71 Henry spent some time administrating a hospital and nursing home in Hugo, CO. Returning to MN in 1972 Henry was a clerk at the Silver Lake Market in North St. Paul which he enjoyed for 25 years. Henry is survived by his wife, Karin; their daughter, Ann of Winslow, AZ; son, Rolf of Phoenix, AZ and Erik of North St. Paul; and preceded in death by son, Kurt in 2015. Also survived by grandchildren, Rose, Melissa & Daniel; sister Lisa Domier of Anchorage, AK; preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Henry has been a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church North St. Paul for almost 50 years, always looked forward to weekly worship and the various social gatherings at the church. He enjoyed reading, symphony concerts, playing cards and the cabin in Couderay, WI, which was a source on many good times with family and friends. Memorials to St. Mark’s Lutheran Foundation.
