Obituary

WEBSTER – A. Claire (LaPerle) Menard, 90, died Tuesday, June 15, 2021 in Overlook Nursing Care in Charlton after an illness.

She leaves 2 daughters, Cheryll A. Sergel and her husband Paul of Webster and Paula E. LeClair and her husband C. Paul of Lecanto, FL; 5 grandchildren, Scott A. Brayton and his wife Christine, Tia C. Phillips and her husband John, Jerry J. Brayton and his wife Tracy, Sheila J. Sergel, and Chris P. LeClair and his fiancée Jen Eng; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lianne A. Miller of Putnam, CT; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna M. Chausse in 1975, by her sister Jeanne D. Brodeur and by her brother Joseph LaPerle.

She was born in Dayville, CT on October 13, 1930, a daughter of Eugene and Mary (Therriaque) LaPerle. She graduated from Putnam High School in 1948 and resided in Webster and Dudley most of her life.

Claire worked at Sandlerette Shoe in Webster and as a stitcher at Ethan Allen Company in Dudley for 12 years. She retired in 2009.

She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She was very active at the Webster Senior Center, serving as its treasurer and as the director of activities. She worked the bingo games held at Slater Estates. In her younger years she liked to crochet.

The family would like to thank the staff at Overlook Nursing Care in Charlton for the wonderful care they provided for Claire since last year.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street. A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 23, at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street (please meet at the church) Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations be made to the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council, 3 Veterans Way, Webster, MA 01570.
