Judith Frances McGovern, 77, of Malden, MA passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 13th, 2021, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. Judith was born October 4, 1943 in Malden, MA and was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Finn) Farraher. She was raised and educated in Malden and lived most of her life there.
Mrs. McGovern attended nursing school and worked as an LNA at local nursing homes prior to beginning her career in Banking. Judy began working at Boston Safe Deposit & Trust as a clerk and retired as a supervisor in Bank of America’s check processing department. She was an avid researcher regarding the family genealogy and took many trips around New England to gather evidence of the family background. Judy loved reading and watching mystery, crime, and fantasy stories. One of her favorite pastimes was introducing the older Disney movie to her grandchildren.
Judy is survived by three children and their spouses, daughter, Leighann M. & Jeff Maher, daughter, Lynn M. & Issam Krieche and son, Richard J., Jr. & Miki McGovern, 10 grandchildren and her sister Lynn M. Farraher, as well as several nieces and nephews. Judy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 yrs. Richard J. McGovern, Sr. in 2015.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 18, 2021, from 8:30-10:30 am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH. A Catholic prayer service will follow at 10:30. After cremation, burial will be at Great Hill Cemetery in Chester, NH. At the family’s request, all those in attendance are required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing while in the funeral home.
