CHICOPEE – Ralph C. “Chickie” Bruce, 73, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, June 12, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at Care One in East Longmeadow surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Ware on November 15, 1947, a beloved son of the late Raymond L. and Violet I. (Hall) Bruce. He was raised in Belchertown and later lived in Holyoke before moving to the Aldenville section of Chicopee in 1981 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was employed for many years in the Environmental Services Department at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and retired in 2011. Chickie was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed camping, bicycling, and bowling. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends and never missed a single family event, holiday or special occasion. Chickie leaves his devoted sister, Cynthia A. “Cindy” (Bruce) LaJeunesse, of Chicopee; his two loving nephews, Ronald G. “Ron” LaJeunesse and his wife, Deborah, of Polk, PA, and Richard J. “Rick” LaJeunesse of Chicopee; his loving niece, Roxanne Lengieza and her husband, Mark, of Chicopee; and his cherished grandnephews, grandnieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, William “Billy” Bruce who was Called Home on March 18, 2006; and his dear brother in law, Leo A. LaJeunesse who was Called Home on December 14, 2020. A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 47 Fanjoy Drive, Chicopee, MA 01013.
