Larry A. Batelaan
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Larry Batelaan on June 10th, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Larry was born in Chewelah, Washington on March 13th, 1941 to Albert and Eulene Batelaan. The family relocated to Ventura in the mid 50’s where Larry grew his roots, graduating from Ventura High School in 1960 and worked as a craftsman for W.L. Rubottom Cabinets for 46 years before retiring in 2006.
In 1966 Larry met the love of his life, Marsha Mitchell and soon after they exchanged nuptials on April 8, 1967. Together, they built a loving and lasting marriage of 54 years, raising their two children Larry and Alice.
Larry’s hobbies included going to motor speedway, traveling and emptying slot machines much to the dismay of casino owners. He was an avid bowler, bowling in many leagues for 25 years, winning several trophies.
Larry leaves behind his loving wife Marsha Batelaan, children Larry and Alice (Michael). Grandchildren; Drake, Brittany, Matthew, Kristi (Joseph), and Karrie. Great grand-children; Paige, McKayla and Emily. Brother; William (Belinda). Cousin; Marion Pruitt and his beloved four-legged best friends, Polly and Zippy.
The family would like to acknowledge Assisted Hospice Living and our wonderful caregivers during Larry’s final days - Stephany, Angie, Jazmine, Sylvia, Rosarita and Blanca. Thank you so much for everything!
Family and friends are invited to a Vigil prayer service to be held Wednesday, June 16th, 2021 at 7pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 17th, 2021 at 10:00 A.M at Our Lady of Assumption, 3175 Telegraph Rd. Ventura. Burial will immediately follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 N. H. St. in Oxnard. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to The Michael J. Fox For Parkinson’s Research or The American Diabetes Association.
