DARTMOUTH - KENNETH A. FLUEGEL "BUB" born April 17, 1934, at the age of 87 passed away at home surrounded by his family and friends on June 2, 2021. He and his wife spent over 60 years in their home in Dartmouth.
He was the son to Adam and Mildred Fluegel of New Bedford. Born, raise and educated in New Bedford, where he met his lifelong love in the 4th grade and became friends, high school sweethearts and married for 65 years.
Ken was the loving husband of Joan Fluegel; proud father to Kenny Fluegel and the late Susan Smallhoover and the late Sandy Tavares; grandfather to Brandon and Hunter Fluegel; brother to Richard, Robert, Nancy and Diane. He was very happy to be called "Papa" from Giselle Cambra.
Ken served in the Army with the Company A 10th Engineer Battalion 3rd Infantry before graduating from Northwestern University. He worked at the Star Store in New Bedford and then spent many years as Office Manager at Babbitt Steam before his wonderful retirement.
Ken was a member of the Smith Mills Church for over 50 years where he provided accounting guidance and participated in the theatre program. He loved spending time with his family, reading, gardening, bowling, solving puzzles and of course the casino. Ken was an extraordinary role model and known for his sharp mind, loving heart and everlasting care for his family.
Graveside services for both Ken and his wife Joan will be Friday, July 2, 2021 at Evergreen Cemetery in Dartmouth at 1 P.M.
