WORCESTER-Gertrude R. Taylor, 88, of 4 Cheever Street, died Friday, March 31st in St. Mary Healthcare Center. Her husband, James H. Taylor, died in 1989. She is survived by 2 sons, James D. and Gerald F. Taylor of Worcester, 7 grandchildren, a great grandchild, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Alfred E. Stone in 1991 and her sister, Lillian M. Stone in 2001.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Edmund L. and Mary Ellen (Cole) Stone. Mrs. Taylor graduated from South High School in 1934. She worked as a secretary for R.J. Toomey Manufacturing and Retail for over 20 years. Mrs. Taylor enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling and was an accomplished cook.
The funeral is Monday, April 3rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 until 9:30 AM the day of the funeral.
