Obituary

CLOONAN, Kathleen E. (Coughlan) Of Wellesley formerly of Watertown and Cambridge died on June 6, 2021 at home with her husband Paul Cloonan and her loving family. Kathy was born on October 19, 1939 in Cambridge, MA. Her parents were Bartholomew and Mary Coughlan Sulllivan (Noonan) (deceased) she was predeceased by her step-father, Patrick Sullivan. Kathy came from a large family, she was a loving sister to her Brother Jeremiah Coughlan (deceased), her sisters Mary Curran (William) (deceased), Eileen Stafford (deceased), Joan Champagne (Donald) (deceased), and Claire Magliozzi (Pasquale) (deceased). She was a loving daughter-in-law to John and Catherine Cloonan (deceased) and her brother-in-law Albert Cloonan (deceased).

Kathy is the mother of 7 Children: Jeanne Hebard (William), Paul Cloonan (Patricia), Eileen Bromley (John), Michael Cloonan (Kristen), Lynn Bergin (Cristopher), Kathleen Hunt (Murtagh), and Matthew Cloonan (Deceased). She is the grandmother to 20 grandchildren: Allyson, Kevin, and Olivia Hebard, Lily, Kelley, Brian, and Matthew Cloonan, Conor, Emma, and Luke Bromley, Kathryn, Colleen, Joseph, and Evelyn Cloonan, Daniel, Paul, and Michael Bergin, Moira, Patrick, and Erin Hunt. Kathy is also survived by her sister Anne Murray (Robert) (deceased), brothers-in-law William Stafford and John Cloonan, and her sisters-in-law Mary Cloonan and Nancy Cloonan.

Kathy graduated from St. Columbkille High School in Brighton and worked as a secretary for the Army Corps of Engineers until she married her husband Paul in June 1960 sharing 60 years of marriage with him. Kathy’s career goal was to be a loving and caring mother devoting her time to the wellbeing of her family and nurturing her children to foster in them the virtues of honesty, integrity, and concern for others and guiding their spiritual life.

Kathy was a member of St. Paul Parish in Wellesley for over 44 Years and loved her Catholic Faith. She attended classes with her husband for 4 Years when he was studying to become a Deacon in the Catholic Church.

Kathy was a wonderful cook and loved to host family get togethers during the holiday seasons. Kathy was a member of the Wellesley Country Club and enjoyed playing golf with her 9 Nine Hole Group. She was an animal lover and ardent sports fan for the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins and loved to watch her children and grandchildren participating in various sports.

Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt. 16) WELLESLEY, Friday, June 11 from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, June 12 at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 9am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kathleen’s memory to St. Paul’s Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley, MA 02482.
