AUBURN-Shirley G. (Whalen) Johnson, 81, formerly of Wellman St. died Thursday, March 30.
Her husband, Francis E. Johnson predeceased her. She leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of William H. and Marguerite (Carey) Whalen. Mrs. Johnson graduated from Worcester State College with her bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Education. She went on to receive a master’s degree in special education from Smith College. Shirley was a special education teacher in the Worcester School System for over 20 years.
The funeral will be Thursday, April 6 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Cathedral, 15 Chatham St., Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A visiting hour will be from 8:30 to 9:30 AM before the funeral at the funeral home.
