ABINGTON -- Marcia Louise (Greenwood) Collins, 81, passed away peacefully at home in Abington, MA, surrounded by family and friends, on June 5, 2021.
Born in Sanford, ME, in 1939, Marcia was the daughter of Dan and Eleanor (Cook) Greenwood. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 61 years, Dean Collins (Abington MA), and their children, Sharon Collins (Missoula MT), Daniel (and Tonjua) Collins (Moultonborough NH), Deana (and John) Morgan (Kingston MA), Heather Spaur (Bridgewater MA), and her loving sister, Joyce (Greenwood) O’Neill (Crossville TN), and many loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends.
Marcia graduated from Sanford High School in 1958, where she met the love of her life at a high school band concert and dance (1956). Marcia and Dean were married at the Unitarian Church in Milton, MA, in June 1960, and in 1969, were sealed together with their children for time and eternity at the Salt Lake Temple in Utah.
Her roles were many, but the focus and joy of her life was as a mother, grandmother, sister and wife. Marcia was a Past Worthy Advisor of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and among many volunteer roles, she served as the music chairman for her home congregation for 35 years. She worked for several years as an inspector at the Foxboro Company in East Bridgewater, MA.
Marcia was a voracious reader of mysteries and history. She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting in the folk art tradition as well as crafting in other artistic mediums.
Marcia’s family and friends, whether through blood or love, will forever be thankful to have had her in their lives. They will continue to treasure their precious memories and keep them close to their hearts forever.
Organ donation was a contributing factor to extending the health and quality of Marcia’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages all to consider registering as a kidney donor or making a contribution to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Development Office, 116 Huntington Avenue, 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02116.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a Celebration of Life that will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 11, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 547 Manley Street in West Bridgewater. Visiting hours will be held 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, MA. Interment will take place in Sanford, ME, in a private family ceremony.
