Florence “Diane” Oliver… passed away June 1, 2021, at Mass General Hospital after a brief illness just two and ½ months before her 91st birthday!
Diane, the only daughter of Anthony and Mary Marshall Oliver, was born and grew up in East Cambridge, MA where she “ice skated on the streets” and later attended Cambridge High and Latin.
Her early love for the arts, led her to become an accomplished ballerina where she performed in Swan Lake & various other ballets. Her God-given beautiful voice led her to perform professionally as a vocalist/percussionist with the entertaining group, Val Perry Trio, traveling to Florida in the winter & Kennebunkport in the summer, but always returning to the Medford area known as home. Added to this life in the arts, was her delightful sense of humor, which she never lost!
In later years, Diane graced the lobby of the Medford Cooperative Bank (later becoming Brookline Bank) where she worked as a receptionist until her retirement.
Throughout her life, Diane was a qualified seamstress, creating all her professional wardrobe, an avid reader, and she was quite proficient in the culinary arts. Having a huge love for animals, (most recently her little dog, “Zu-Zu”), Diane supported the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and also the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
She leaves behind several distant cousins originally from the Cambridge area, Cousin Marie Pleasant from San Diego, CA, Lifelong friends & co-workers Val & Judy Perry of Medford, MA and special friends Fallon/Schechter family of Lawrence and Salisbury Beach, MA. A private graveside ceremony will be held in her honor.
Rest in peace, Diane…we will miss you!
