WORCESTER__Czeslawa (Piascik) Kulma, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 56 years, Franciszek Kulma, passed away in 2003.
She is survived by her children, Henry and his wife, Janina of Webster and their daughters, Yvonne and Agnes; Jan and his wife, Krystyna of Worcester, and their children, Ivana and Zbigniew; Wladyslaw of Auburn and his children Mariusz, Michal, and Maria; Maria Kowalski and her husband, Jesse of Ludlow and their children, Richard, Anne, and Thomas, and Casimir and his wife, Beata, of Millbury and their daughters, Nicole and Amy. Additionally, her pride and joy also included 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. Her son, Wieslaw Kulma of Poland, predeceased her in 2000. His wife, Barbara and their children, Elzbieta, Dariusz, Adam, and Jolanta continue to reside in Poland.
Czeslawa was born in North Bellingham, MA, daughter of the late Teodor and Aleksandra (Nadolna) Piascik. At the age of three, she journeyed back to her parents' native Poland, where she spent her adolescent and early adult years. During World War II, her determination aided many Jewish families in escaping to freedom before she was taken to a German labor camp, where she eventually met her husband. In 1972, they arrived to Ellis Island via ship, Stefan Batory, and settled in Worcester, MA, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Her passion for service continued during her sixteen years of work at St. Vincent's Hospital in the Facilities Department. In addition, her love of God and the Catholic faith was often exemplified as she sang Polish hymns in her beloved parish, Our Lady of Czestochowa Church.
Please join in celebrating her life at the Funeral Mass, which will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning, from 9:30-11:00 AM in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church or to her previous parish in Dobrylas, Poland, Parafia Najswietszego Sakramentu.
