Brother of Lawrence Compton of St. Petersburg, FL and Carole Williamson of Murrells Inlet, SC. Grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 18. Step-father of Carl Fielder of Cabot, VT, Paula Bonacorsi of Green Valley, AZ, Rebecca Hodge of Kill Devil Hills, NC. He also leaves his good friend and caregiver Nikki Laprade.
Jim was a retired tour guide at the Vermont State House. Retired president of the James A. Murray Painting Company of Needham. Past president of the Needham Exchange Club. Past chairman of the Needham Memorial Park Trustees, Member of Needham VFW Lt. Manson H. Carter Post. WWII Coast Guard Veteran.
Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave. Needham on Monday, June 7, from 9:30-10:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, Needham at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery, Needham.
