James Roger Magee, Sr. Of Canton, passed away June 4th surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Anne Marie (O’Brien) The loving father of the late James R. Magee, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Canton; Judith Magee of West Jordan, Utah; Tara Adondakis and her husband Greg of Holladay, Utah; Thomas Magee and his wife Laura of Foxboro, MA. The joy of Jim’s life was spending time with his grandchildren Micheal, Anna (Stauss), Stephani (Dimitri), Isaac and George of Holladay, Utah and Caroline, Bridget and Audrey of Foxboro, MA and his great grandchildren Evyenia and Gregory Of Sandy Utah.
Jim was born at Milton Hospital April 28th 1930 and was a lifelong resident of Canton. After graduating from Canton High School he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Captain. He also received his BA and MBA from Northeastern University. He worked at Northeastern Distributors for 25 years and then as Treasurer/Tax Collector of Canton until his retirement.
Along with his wife Anne Marie, he lived a life of service, to his family, his faith and his country. He was Past Grand Knight at the Knights of Columbus 2095 in Canton, a member of the American Legion, served on the Canton Planning board and volunteered with The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. At Saint John’s Church he was a CCD teacher, Usher and Eucharistic Minister.
He was the son of the late Thomas H. Magee and Isabel (Davenport) Magee. Brother of Claire (Magee) McCoy, the late Joseph Magee and the late Mary (Magee) O’Leary Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St., CANTON, Tuesday 4-7 PM. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Canton Wednesday morning at 10 AM.
