Conrad T. Thibeault, a lifelong New Bedford resident, died suddenly and peacefully at home on Thursday June 3, 2021 at the age of 84. He was a loving husband to Helen (Cummings) Thibeault for 50 years until her passing, and the son of the late Lucille (Hebert) Thibeault and the late Leo J. Thibeault.
Conrad served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received a Master’s degree in Education from Bridgewater State College and he worked for the New Bedford School system for over 35 years. His long career in education began as a teacher, then as an Assistant Principal, and later as a Computer Specialist for Title I until his retirement.
Conrad was known for his sense of humor and always had a joke to spare. Speaking of spares, Conrad loved bowling and was quite good at it. He bowled a perfect game at 75 years old and continued to bowl, pretty much daily, until his death. A family man known as “ConDad”, he was very proud of his twin grandchildren.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Lisa Thibeault and Martha Silveira, Michael Thibeault and Chuck Gonzales, and Deborah and John Ryan; two grandchildren, Madalena and Quinn Medeiros; his devoted companion, Arlene Berube; two brothers: Kenneth and Wayne Thibeault; along with his many nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Conrad was predeceased by his sons-in-law, Richard Foucart and Michael Medeiros.
According to his wishes, a private family burial service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
