SWANSEA – Ronald Tavares, age 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on June 3, 2021. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Evelyn (Rebello) Tavares. Ronald was a talented craftsman, who started off working as a furniture repair technician for Masons Furniture in Fall River then Coletti’s Furniture in Johnston, RI. Prior to retirement he worked as a Service Manager for Foxboro Furniture. He was also a Firearm Safety Instructor for many years. Ronald was a member of the Somerset Sportman’s Club and the National Rifle Association. He was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church.
Ronald is survived by his former wife and companion Joan (Platt) Reed; children Cheryl Ann Blanchette (husband Jody) of Somerset, Ronald Tavares Jr. (wife Jeanne) of Swansea, Lynn Marie Oliveira (husband Joseph) of Fall River and Michelle Rollins (husband Glenn) of Fall River; brothers Alphonse Tavares Jr., Richard Tavares and Lawrence Tavares; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way, 1 great-great grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Tavares.
His funeral service will take place at Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Tuesday, June 8th at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.
