SPRINGFIELD – Patricia L. (Kelley) Ellis, 94, of the East Springfield section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Memory Support of Heritage Hall in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on March 17, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late William P. and Barbara L. (Michalek) Kelley. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Springfield in 1944 and had lived in Springfield her entire life. She furthered her education and graduated Magna Cum Laude, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee in 1948. She was employed as a teacher with the Springfield Public Schools and had worked at the Dorman, the Armory Street and the Mary O. Pottinger schools in Springfield. She had also worked as a substitute teacher throughout the city. She was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Wayne H. Ellis who was Called Home on June 15, 1995. They were married on April 30, 1949 at the former Saint Mary Church, now Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 46 years of happiness together. She leaves her four loving children, Paul M. Ellis and his wife, Grace, of Swedesboro, NJ, Peter W. Ellis and his wife, Mary, of East Providence, RI, Mark W. Ellis of Holyoke and Virginia Ellis-Golemba and her partner, Jerry Sarno, of Longmeadow; her seven cherished grandchildren, Kelley and Claudia Ellis, Julie Pinard and her husband, Steve, Daniel Ellis and his wife, Bronwyn, Michael and David Ellis and Giovanna Sarno; her six cherished great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Joseph Pinard and Leo, Samuel, Hudson and Matthew Ellis; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her two dear sisters, Marie Kelley and Alice Connors and her husband, James. Her family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff at Memory Support of Heritage Hall for their compassionate care of Patricia over the past four years. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129.
