BALTIMORE, MD. – Erna Irene (Clark) White or Irene as she was called, 83, of Charlotte Hall, MD. passed away on May 15, 2021 at Johns Hopkins Hospital after a period of failing health.
Irene was born in Whitman, MA. on September 19, 1937 at her grandmother’s home. She was the second of three girls of the late Ernest and Bertha (Reed) Clark. She and her sisters grew up living with her parents as well as her grandparents.
She graduated from Whitman High School in 1955. In 1956, she married Edward White and they began their marriage of 64 years. After high school, Irene worked at Handy Hannah in Whitman. Both enjoyed traveling and drove cross-country. Irene visited most states in the U.S. Irene and Ed, also, went to Europe and visited a number of countries there.
Because of Ed’s military career, they lived in a number of places around the country: Jacksonville, FL., Los Alamitos, CA., Virginia Beach, VA., back to Jacksonville, FL., Andrews Air Force Base, Southern Maryland and finally settled in Charlotte Hall, MD. Irene worked as a manager of a liquor store at Cheltenham Naval Communications Center and finally as a bookkeeper in a furniture store.
Irene is survived by her husband, Edward, and her three children, Gregg White and his wife, Candy of Memphis, TN., Brian White and his wife, Michele of Limerick, PA. and Lynn Lethbridge and her husband, Kevin of Burtonsville, MD. Irene, also, leaves behind her grandchildren, Kristine Williams and Jeremy of Memphis, TN., Travis White and Jessie of Memphis, TN., Daniel Lethbridge and Shelby of Burtonsville, MD., Deanna Lethbridge of Burtonsville, MD., Paige Lethbridge of Burtonsville, MD., Hannah White of Limerick, PA., and Addison White of Limerick, PA. She leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Piper, Griffin, Tucker, Tobias, Sadie Jo and, arriving soon, Ryder. In addition, Irene leaves her two sisters, Meredith Leonard of Whitman, MA. and Cheryl Clark of Whitman, MA.
Irene will be buried in Whitman, MA. alongside her parents. There will be graveside services at the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman, MA. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Scott Wasdin of the First Congregational Church, Whitman, performing the services.
