WEST BOYLSTON__ Charles C. Witkus, 90, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at UMASS Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Emily E. (Ceraska) Witkus in 2018.
He is survived by his sons, Stephen C. Witkus and his wife Marcia, and their daughter, Amanda and Michael P. Witkus and his wife Susan, and their son Andrew; and nephew John Fikoski.
Charles was born in Worcester, son of the late Charles Witkus and Mary Purda. He graduated from Commerce High School and went to Worcester Boys Trade School Post Graduate to become a machinist. In 1955, he married his wife, Emily. Charles worked his way up from machinist to General Manager at different companies over the years. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Fitchburg State College in 1990. He retired from Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in 2001, where he taught Machine Shop and was awarded “Teacher of the Year” in 1989.
He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, the Sutton Squares, and the Knights of Lithuania. He was the Animal Control Officer, a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in West Boylston, and he ran his own machine shop for 15 years during retirement. He made many friends and touched many people with his kindness. He loved his family and, enjoyed traveling with his wife all through the United States and Europe and spending time with his Grand Daughter at home and on Cape Cod.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
